Vice President, Media, Asia @ Unilever
As an MBA-grad, I celebrated the day I joined Unilever way back in 1991. It’s been over 24 years since then, and what a ride it is. During this time, I have worked in a variety of roles, benefiting from diverse exposure and challenging assignments. This has enabled me to develop a well-rounded perspective across the business and operations, more recently with depth in media and marketing.
I joined the Media team in 2004 – it was another era then. We worried about TV, Print, Outdoor and Digital was just getting started. How things have changed! There is a dramatic transformation in the media landscape and the journey has been super exciting, like being in a bullet train and trying to make sense of the scenery going by.
In 2008, I moved to the regional leadership role as VP Media overseeing Asia Pacific including Japan, Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Russia. I work with a terrific team and agency partners, striving to break new ground in marketing communications. There are several achievements to our credit which I have been privileged to drive, including a number of big wins at Cannes and other international festivals. Unilever is also a leading digital marketer and recognized as the Mobile Marketer of the Year. We continue to charge ahead with a passion for innovation.
I am privileged to be a part of a great company for the last 24 years and am very excited with the opportunities that every day presents, especially in the dynamic media and digital space.
More recently, I joined the Board of a media start-up, PlayTMN, an In-store Interactive Gaming and Advertising company with operations in Singapore and China.
I play an active role in industry bodies and am the Chairman Emeritus for Mobile Marketing Association, Asia and the Regional VP for the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). I regularly present at key industry events, and am a juror at several awards, leveraging the platforms to drive thought leadership and learn from external developments.
